Our new game is out! It’s free, with no gimmicks or trickery. Just ad’s to support it.
Ecto-Rush is a SHMUP meets Endless Runner. Boiled down the genre mechanics to their basics and combined it with randomized level construction. No buying or grinding for currency. It’s all about skill. Starts out easy, gets crazy!

Here’s all the rest of the photos from PAX East 2014! Enjoy, and hope to see you all again next year!
PAX East 2014 has come and gone. We of Skylance Studio attended again this year to demo Hamster Drop in it’s release form!
This year we had even more! Not only did we have the full game to demo, and available to buy, but we also had a whole box of those adorable plush hamsters to buy! But why stop there? We made a whole batch of buttons for the pilot hamster, and Raye! Even ultra high quality print posters for the super fans! The whole event went over extremely well. We didn’t have a thing left by the end.
Even bigger, we also had a very awesome surprise special guest! Who? FInd out more below!
Dropping out of the sky and on to your Android device… Hamster Drop is here!
The game is out for iOS now! We worked very hard to get this game ready and released, despite the delays. You can pick it up on the iTunes app store!
How incredibly busy things get. I would have liked to have updated more, but all my other duties really had to take priority. It will be worth it however, as Hamster Drop is entering the final weeks before we release on iOS.
So how does this all break down?
If you haven’t heard from other sources, we are indeed planning to release the iOS version within the next couple of weeks. We should be finishing up development by the end of this coming week, then we have to submit it to Apple for review. This process can take a week or more, depending on what they find when they test it. Apple tests the game for things like crashing, general quality, and if it meets their guidelines. Look forward to saving those hamsters really soon!
OK, that’s all well and good some of you may be thinking, but what about the Android and Windows 8 versions? Once we’ve sent off the iOS version to Apple for certification we’ll immediately be working on those. When can you expect them? It’s hard to say at this point. We’ll be trying our best to get at least one of the two out for Christmas. In the coming weeks we will have more information available about this. Stay tuned. I’ll post about it here, on the main website, on the facebook page, and on our twitter page, so follow any of those and you’ll know when we have more info regarding that.
Now I must get back to work to make sure Hamster Drop is ready for you all to play! In the mean time, here are a few exclusive screen shots for this post.
If you are a lover of classic action and exploration titles such as Metroid or Castlevania, then be sure to check this game out!! WayForward needs your help to bring this amazing 4th installment of the Shantae series to life in HD for all the major consoles and Steam!

Don’t know what Shantae is? Check out the first two games of the series, available on Nintendo 3DS eShop; Shantae & Shantae Risky’s Revenge! A third Shantae game is coming very soon as well, also for the Nintendo 3DS!
This title currently on Kickstarter, Shantae: Half-Genie Hero, is poised to bring Shantae to the level of attention, and budget, it deserves. Following the the footsteps of WayForward’s recent release of the amazing Ducktales Remastered, this new Shantae game takes the hand drawn 2D animated characters and puts them against a beautifully crafted 3D backdrop. Sounds great, right? But don’t just take my word for it, have a look yourself!
Sorry about the lack of Hamster Drop lately! We actually have a lot to post about that coming very soon! For now, I couldn’t resist but to post about this.
At this point I’m fairly convinced that this project doesn’t need this promotion, being at $622,304 at the time of this writing, but I really want to show my official support on this one.
Mighty No. 9
This is a very important moment in the industry, I believe, which will resonate with games and developers world wide. What implications does this new Megaman for a new generation have?
What is 1000: The Animated Micro-series? It is a project currently up on Kickstarter, in which the Animation Director is none other than our resident Art Lead for Hamster Drop, LD Walker!
Him and friends are looking for the funding to make these animated shorts. The setting is a world of high fantasy and futuristic technology where all manner of creatures collide. I’m personally looking forward to seeing them. The animation quality is fantastic, especially for the low budget they are asking for. Most people don’t realize that animation is absurdly expensive to produce. They are really making up for it with a ton of heart!
Check it out and if you like what you see consider backing it. I already have.
Occasionally I will round-up some demos, either ones recommended to me or things that catch my interest. As a designer it is a nice way to sample many new games and see new ideas in action. I would recommend anyone even thinking about getting into the industry to take the time and sample many demos periodically. I figured I’d go ahead and share my findings for the 3DS demos I recently collected and tried. There are some interesting ones, and a real curve ball. So, let’s start off with a really good one and work things out from there…
